I highly recommend all products made by Soundmatters. Excellent quality, customer service and sound. Alex Howie — November 27, Nicole — June 10, I have had my FoxL for 3 years now and it is still going strong!
I use mine mainly on my bicycle and it sounds amazing! I can bike to all my favorite tunes for hours and hours! I just purchased the Dash7 for my 2nd bike along with another bike mount! I cant wait to see and hear the difference between the two. Thanks soundmatters for keeping me going on my bicycle for hours and not to mention for keeping me safe.
Nothing worse than seeing cyclist wearing ear buds! Joey J. This is an amazing product. I am an audiophile and I only like to consume products that have the TOP reviews and specs. And I read many reviews and looked at all the features and details. So I decided to buy it. The sound is mind blowing and crisp. The bass, mids, and highs are very well balanced.. It performs fantastically! Geopatriot — July 29, It may be bigger than some other options including the Dash , but at some point physics just wins over convenience.
Some reviews claim that other devices can be played louder. It is portable enough. I appreciate that it is made of high quality materials and is very solid. Some of my devices need to be turned off and back on when pairing, but i think that has more to do with the intricacies of the Bluetooth system than any particular flaws of this device. I would definitely buy this again and recommend it to my friends. Alex Parasense — November 24, FoxL is part of my life for already many years and one of the best tool I ever bought.
Long life Soundmatters! Dalancroft — January 9, Tom — August 6, Never do I take the time to write a review but this one deserves it. Soundmatters' foxL v2 Bluetooth speaker system was developed by Dr. Godehard Guenther, a former NASA engineer and its pedigree shows with impressive specs, high quality sound and solid build. I put one of these little Bluetooth marvels through its paces, but with a twist. Soundmatters offers a bicycle mount designed specifically for the foxL v2 and my brother Rick is both a road warrior who commutes to work on his bike even in the Canadian winter and a music nut.
Once I'd had the opportunity to scope out its basic capabilities, I passed it on to Rick for some on-road testing. Sound: Soundmatters bills the foxL v2 as: "The world's best sounding pocket-sized stereo speaker. Having an audiophile "rocket scientist" design the system brings it within the realm of possibility, but verifying boasts like this is what reviewing is all about. The foxL v2 packs a pair of digitally powered 1-inch "twoofers" and makes double use of its battery, which also serves as an acoustic suspension bass driver.
This unique setup is responsible for some of the most incredible bass performance I've heard out of a device this size, thumping enough that Soundmatters provides a rubber cushion to keep the unit from jumping across smooth surfaces.
Trust me, it needs it. I have a pretty decent if dated — it needs a cable to connect to an iPhone portable unit I use as a reference unit, a JBL On Tour system with a pair of 1-inch Neodymium drivers powered by a Class-D digital amp. It may be old-school when it comes to connectivity, but for ultra-portable sound, it's still tough to beat.
The significantly smaller foxL v2 could keep up with the JBL when it came to volume, although the bigger system had more stereo separation and handled the high notes a little more cleanly. It's not a big deal, but don't be surprised if you experience a slight decrease in volume when it's unplugged.
Pairing two Bluetooth devices together is usually a headache, but we had a completely painless experience with the FoxL v2. It goes into discovery mode right when you turn it on, and from there it's just a matter of locating the speaker using your audio player of choice. There's also a microphone button on the front that pauses your music and lets you answer or reject calls on the speakerphone without interrupting playback.
We listened to the Soundmatters FoxL speaker for a solid two weeks before writing this review and we're still impressed by the sound quality, especially considering its portable footprint. The FoxL also gives off a surprisingly thumping bass response thanks to a unique BassBattery design that wraps the battery in rubber for more low-end vibration, which you can actually feel on the surface you put the speaker on. The sound stage is nothing to balk at, either: the Twoofers remain clear with little noticeable distortion even playing bass-heavy tunes at high volumes.
We used Michael Jackson's "Off the Wall" album as a reference recording, because of its impeccable engineering, and every song from "Girlfriend" to "Rock With You" showcases the FoxL's audiophile endorsement, generating a wide, dynamic range and palpable spatial imaging. Taking into consideration the FoxL v2's small stature, we're hard pressed to find another small speaker that offers fidelity on par with the Soundmatters FoxL v2 pocket speaker.
